Media Accountability Desk

About the Unit

The Media Accountability Desk reviews public reporting and commentary related to blasphemy-related cases and legal developments. Its purpose is to assess whether claims made in media coverage correspond with publicly available legal records and documented investigative material.

The Desk does not seek to regulate or restrict journalistic expression. Rather, it provides fact-based responses and documentary clarifications where public reporting may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or unverified assertions.

Mandate

The Desk is responsible for:

  • Monitoring media coverage of blasphemy-related cases and legal proceedings
  • Reviewing factual claims against verifiable legal documentation
  • Publishing structured responses to inaccurate or misleading reporting
  • Clarifying legal and procedural facts through documented evidence
  • Promoting responsible and evidence-based public discourse
